How to Make a Cacao Drink: Hot, Iced & Ceremonial
Share
Wondering how to prepare drinking cacao at home? The best method depends on which cacao you have. Our Artisan Drinking Cacao is a lightly sweetened blend for hot or iced chocolate, while our Ceremonial Cacao is 100% cacao for a slower, more personal ritual. Here are the preparation methods for each product.
Artisan Drinking Cacao: hot chocolate
- Combine 20 g of the cacao blend with 2 tablespoons of warm water to form a paste.
- Add 180 ml of warm water or milk of choice.
- Whisk well for a velvety-smooth consistency.
Our Artisan blend contains organic ceremonial-grade raw cacao, organic panela, organic vanilla powder and pink Himalayan salt. Taste it before adding extra sweetener.
Artisan Drinking Cacao: iced chocolate
- Mix 20 g of cacao blend with 2 tablespoons of warm water to form a paste.
- Blend with 150 ml cold milk and ice until smooth and frothy.
Ceremonial Cacao: a warm cacao ritual
- Measure 10–20 g of Ceremonial Cacao. We recommend 10 g for a gentle daily ritual or 20 g for a rich, bold experience.
- Combine it with 2 tablespoons of warm water to form a paste.
- Add 150 ml of hot water or plant milk at 60–70°C. Do not use boiling liquid.
- Optional: add a pinch of chilli, cinnamon or turmeric and sweeten with your preferred natural sweetener.
- Whisk, froth or blend until velvety and well combined.
We recommend plant-based milks, as dairy may curdle or mask the cacao’s flavour. Sip slowly and make a little space for the moment.
